Tonight, my friend Nigel introduced me to William Walton's film score
to Shakespeare's "Henry V" at Royal Festival Hall. Our seats
were located directly inside/behind the orchestra close enough to read
the trumpet's notes. This classical program included four pieces from
"Henry V": Brass Fanfare, Suite from "Henry V",
Violin Concerto, & Symphony No.2. Accompanying the London Philharmonia
Orchestra was world renown violinist Joshua Bell, who provided an exceptional
performance.
Walton is a composer meaningful to Britain's history and died in 1983.
This performance is a part of many events celebrating Walton at Royal
Festival Hall. Walton is savored by British culture explaining why Prince
Charles attended the concert. Not only did I become exposed to British
war history through music, but also saw Prince Charles, the next in
line to the throne, live in person. This classical concert was quite
exciting.
