Imagine
walking down Oxford Street, London's most commercialized shopping
area and seeing every store boarded up with wood. Imagine not being
able to go to school because the University is well informed that
it would be safer keep students outside of central London. Imagine
seeing helicopters hovering over central London from morning until
night. Imagine that everyone in central London is protesting against
Capitalism, pro-Socialism, animal rights, and other causes that
need to be addressed.
May Day is a day in which is known for protests, sometimes violent.
Today thousands of police reveled the streets to control demonstrations
by people in massive groups. From the American Embassy to Marble
Arch to Leciester Square and even as far as Clerkenwell Green, demonstrators
freely expressed their opinions and pledged democracy. England has
an open ear towards hearing these issues brought forward and allows
the demostrations to take place as long as they are not violent.
On the BBC, politicians expressed their viewpoints about what protestors
were adressing and gave feedback how they felt about certain issues,
showing the sucessful message being recieved. In addtion, many politicians
from both parties showed that they encourage the demostrators as
well as favour the idea of allowing people to be heard through a
form of protest.
It was a quite interesting day and also took place in Australia.
In France, a protest took place aswell but wasn't May Day related
it was just in regards to the upcoming prime minister elections.
