The plans are set for an exciting travel up, down and all around Italia
for the 3 weeks of winter break. Sarah Gardianelli, an American, and
I have agreed to see, ski, and be in Italy. We start the journey making
our entrance into Genoa on December 13 where we shall experience the
origins of Pesto. Then, we shall stroll along the coast to the 5 beautiful
villages of Cinque Terre that front cliffs and magnificent ocean landscape.
Then, Venice would be nice, wouldn't it? Romance shall flourish in
the nice ambiance. The gondola rides through the canals, the winding
streets and sumptuous palaces shall be only the beginning. From there
we will depart for a 3-day "World Class Skiing" trip in
the Alps. This small German influenced town of Selva Val Gardena is
tucked away into a valley that surrounds the monstrous Dolomites.
At our reserved garni, Garni
La Bercia, we will be able to click in our skiis at the front
door and access the "Sellaronda Carousel". After we had
enough, we still have a load of time and also a load of places, so
we will shall head south. In Florence we shall gasp for air when becoming
"breathless" to see the splendid duomo, the Ponte Vecchio,
treasures of Uffizi, Michelangelo's David and the museums. Afterwards
we may encounter Naples directly or jump to La Isla Capri, or maybe
Sicily. That's if we don't fall off the leaning tower in Pisa beforehand.
"Homesick" may be the last thing on our mind because on
Christmas we make our way to join Sarah's family in Napoles. Once
Christmas is over, our journey isn't. It's time to "roam around
Rome". The eternal city has allot to offer and we have allot
time to give it. We might hop into Vatican City and do a lil' prayer
with tha' Pope or play pattycake with Mafia. But hopefully we will
connect with Camilla from Bologna and make things happen. Sarah, Me,
and the millions of revelers will be celebrating New Years 2002 in
Roma, the Italiano way!
