One Hell of A "Welcome Party"! The School Sponsored this one, what a difference. |
|
|
Our "school sponsored welcome party" was out of this world. The club Fabric in Farringdon is 3 stories underground designed in a sophisticated fashion. The technical lighting and sounds are impressive. The clubs scene in London is more advanced. There were three rooms that contained aggressive sounds. To the U.S. folk, this night out at a club would be considered a "rave" by any sheltered one. But the club was packed with thousands of college students dancing to the latest vibes. The jungle room, as well as the progressive house rooms, were intense. There was a drummer in the Jungle room that was drumming to the sounds of the music. Breakers also displayed their skills as the crowd appreciated the showcase. I kept saying to myself the entire night "I cannot believe the school put this on". This welcome party revealed how more responsible and mature these european students, mostly under the age of 21, are already used to alchohol and do not excessively consume in comparison to a similar situation in U.S. The environement felt very '21-up' in the states, but these were college students. In Room 3 it was like a steam room, the people seem to love the RnB'ish Hip Hop over here. There were people dancing on everything possible and it was starting to get a little hot that taking off clothes was probably not such a bad idea. I only walked through this room because it was too hot to handle but I was sweating for the 2 minutes I was in it. Towards the later end of the night the music started gaining heavier sounds in the jungle and progressive rooms as most venues here in UK strive for. A Diva came out at 2 a.m. and performed her latest tracks and the crowd loved her, so did I. I met some new people on the dance floor and people seem friendly. This Monday night was a night to remember. |
