Adalucian Pueblo, Genalguacil

August 8th, 2002

This is Genalguacil, absolutely secluded, relaxing, breathtaking, gorgeous and everything I imagined for a pure Andalucian experience.

A Special Invitation To Genalguaci

Pure & Authentic Pueblo tucked away in the mountains of Andalucia… way off the beaten track.

Our long journey to Genalguacil started around 2am from Barcelona. Silvia, Albert, Jeremie, and Carlotta picked Sasha & I up from Ripollett, and we made our way south. During my short hours of sleep we passed through different toll stations of Spain’s autopista. The night was short and most of it, I was awake.

Real Sand In San Sebastian

Beautiful Sands in San Sebastian!

Absolutely beautiful landscaped tucked away in the north of Spain… and the sand…. is real!!!

Early in the morning hours Alex and I were transported by two friendly and welcoming people from San Sebastian. They helped us settle into a hotel, even though our phoning for rooms showed no availability in the city. We settled for a two star accommodation in town for €100/night, €50 each, the most I’ve ever paid for accommodation backpacking in Europe. The price we paid was the standard rate for accommodation in San Sebastian. Seeing the wealth and beauty of the city helps explain why.

Running of The Bulls in Pamplona!

Running of The Borrachos in Pamplona!

San Fermin 2002 takes its toll on the Sangria ridden city

No I didn’t run. I didn’t even think it was possible to be in Pamplona today. I am just happy to have made it at this point after with my own little stressful ‘running with the bull’shit information regarding transportation from Barcelona. My travelmate Alex and I couldn’t get a train and couldn’t rent a car after being guinea pigged around car rental places. Great customer service Spain has let me tell you. The customer is always wrong and Julia Car Rental in Barcelona lied straight into our faces that they didn’t have any cars available when we saw some in their lot. The salesman probably just wanted to go home instead of helping us out.

“Sex, Drugs, and Ibiza”

From Foam Parties to Sex Parties to After Parties to Freak Parties to Beach Parties and back again…it just never stops in Ibiza

One Rough Ferry

From Valencia, Daniel, Armando, Jorge, and I jumped onto a Transmediterannea Ferry from hell. It was 3 hours of a women on my right spilling her guts all over the inside and an unbelievable headache worth sleeping on. You honestly could not stand up or else you would go cross-eyed from the dizziness and probably also spread barfing showers onto the rest of the passengers.

I loved Ibiza! I got onto the island hating it and left loving it. And now I want to go back. I think its because I got taken care of pretty well and had more than what I expected. All my clubbing was covered thanks to my friend Tom (a savings of €200); and I was in company of Tom, Daniel, Armando, and Jorge. We enjoyed our fully equipped apartmento at Sol y Sonar in San Antonio. I also met really fun people working on the island who took care of me making it a memorable time.

A Short Time In Valencia

One last stop before Ibiza..

After a long tiring bus journey from Sevilla making stops at every city and the most disguisting cafeteria in Spain, we arrived into Valencia for an overnight stay before Ibiza. I wasn’t planning on joining the guys for Ibiza and had repeatedly told them back and forth I was coming and then I wasn’t. They were probably quite annoyed with me. The only reason was because I wasn’t so keen on leaving the culture of Spain for the clubs of the UK. I’m glad I decided to go to Ibiza instead and continue onwards with Daniel, Armand, and Jorge.

Stunning and Striking Sevilla!

An introduction to the history, beauty, and tranquility of Spain’s Andalucia region.

From Madrid, Daniel, Armando, Jorge, and I bused our way to Spain’s beautiful and very cultured Andalucia region. It was such a short time in Madrid, I didn’t have the opportunity to spend one last evening with Nadia, Christian, and MariaJose friends from London which I was looking forward to doing. Well, that’s what happens when you travel, spontaneous plans and time just flies.

Madrid With Pride

Madrid’s Gay Cheuca, always great nightlife and very liberal. Madrid has a law allowing gays to hold hands in the streets.

Madrid with a bit of Pride!

Old and new friends in the city that never seems to sleep…

By bus, Daniel, Jorge, Armando, and I left Barcelona arriving into Madrid at 11pm. At the bus station I met up with my friend MariaJose while the guys checked into their nice hotel in Quevedo. MariaJose was in a rush as we were late for meeting some friends, Nadia and Christian, in Chueca. MariaJose also introduced me to her other fun friends in Madrid. Once the guys arrived into Chueca we all partied in the square with the tons of other people enjoying the Friday night party for Madrid’s Gay Pride. It was a great time to have an old time friend Daniel, his cousins Armando and Jorge, new friends MariaJose, Nadia, and Christian, plus some other friends in company.

Sitges Playas

The Playas’ In Sitges

Paradise only 35 minutes from Barcelona in Southern Catalunya.

Sitges is like a miniature Miami South Beach with its pumping bar life, beautiful bodies, and beach environment. Its a tranquil town for all people to relax in the sun, but its more known for its gay vacation destination.

Sitges is very local to Barcelona and is where I sometimes spend the weekends or even sometimes the weekdays relaxing. The town is very lively with many bars and clubs, mostly gay, that have fun parties. The beaches and especially the surrounding vicinity have much nicer playa’s than Barcelona. Its my little paradise, only 35 minutes away.

I’ve been to Sitges a handful of times so these pictures below are from various trips.
